E911 is now using GeoPoint as our new 911 rural addressing system. GeoPoint uses the Global Positioning System to determine what number to issue. We are now capable of adding new roads or changing old ones and adding rural subdivisions to the new system, which gives the cabin owners better emergency coverage.

We now have to physically be at the property driveway in order to issue a 911 number. We try to work on 911 outside at least one day a week. Which means numbers are only issued once a week, there are some exceptions.

911 signs are available at the courthouse in the 911 department for a cost of $10.00 per sign.

Posting a 911 sign is the law. Louisa County passed Ordinance No. 7-5, which states that if you refuse to use the rural addressing system it is punishable by a fine of not more than $100.00. Louisa County can levy a special tax against your property if you fail to comply with the law.

Do you have your sign in place? Having a 911 sign could save a life or a home.

E911 maps are available in our office and the Recorder's office, at a cost of $3.00.
